It’s normal to set goals and look for ways to level up your life. But, there are 5 common habits of the most successful people that anyone can do. See how these simple additions to your routine can make lasting changes.

1. Meditation

Is your mind always racing? Are you constantly thinking about what’s next on your to-do list? Sitting in silence with our thoughts may seem intimidating at first, so much so that meditation may seem like an impossible practice. But starting meditation is as simple as just taking a breath. Yes, right now. Deep breath in. Deep breathe out. Notice how you feel wherever you are. Notice your heart beating and your feet holding you up.

Taking a moment to center yourself, whether that takes a few minutes or 30, is something we all need in 2021. Whether you’re new to this practice or a seasoned meditator, some of our favorite places to turn to for guidance are Calm, Insight Timer, and Headspace.

You can also find your inner calm with the help of the Reishi mushroom, found in the Level Salted Brownie Collagen Bar.

2. Affirmations

That old saying about sticks and stones, it’s a lie. Words can hurt you. But, they can also help. Taking every negative thought we have and replacing it with a positive one is the best way to mend our hearts and minds. So many times we are quick to doubt ourselves or find it ridiculous to tell ourselves: I am worthy. I am successful. I love myself. We have the ability to rewire our brains and adjust our thought patterns to ultimately change our lives. Affirmations are the steps toward that change, and it starts here:

  • Take 3-5 minutes a day to say your affirmations. One of the best ways to start this practice is first thing after waking up in the morning.
  • Repeat each affirmation about 10 times. Believe these sentiments to be true.
  • Consistency is key. Make this ritual a part of your routine.
  • Practice patience. Affirmations take time before you can feel the transformation of affirmations.

3. Gratitude

The happiest people in life are the ones who consistently practice gratitude. No matter if you’re in the process of working towards your big goal or if you’ve already achieved it, taking time to be thankful lets you appreciate what you have instead of searching for what you don’t.

“Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough.” - Oprah

Identifying what you’re grateful for can be as simple as getting out of bed in the morning without having to press snooze, the good weather, or being able to grab coffee with a friend. These gratitude statements can transform how we go about our days and change our outlook on life itself. Write your gratitudes down somewhere. Looking back at the little things will ultimately shape up to be the big things.

4. Exercise

We attach external goals to exercise when the true value of exercise comes from the power of movement and the energy it brings. Reframing your mindset gives you the ability to make it part of your routine. Replace “have to” with “get to”. Soon it’s not “I have to go to the gym,” but “I get to go to the gym.” Remember, we are fortunate to have bodies that allow us to do so much. Moving your body, whether it’s a sweat-dripping workout or a 30-minute walk with your dog, is the ultimate way to give your body what it needs. Exercise helps us feel better, stronger, and ready to face whatever this year will throw at us.

5. Reading

It’s the next chapter of your life, so turn off your phone and turn the page on a good book. Whether it’s educational, motivational, or a guilty-pleasure, any book will do! Finding this inner calm is a wonderful way to implement more balance and overall stability. The more we read, the more perspective we gain into new worlds, cultures, and insights, allowing our understanding of the world to broaden and develop. So the next time you’re seeking some solace, or an escape from reality, try grabbing a Level Banana Bread Collagen bar and take 10 to read a book and activate those mental muscles.
